Dr. Janelle Ott has a wide-ranging career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and teacher.  It is her goal to foster a deep appreciation of music among her students and the greater public.

Dr. Ott is the Adjunct Professor of Bassoon at Texas A&M University Kingsville, and has previously served on the faculties of Angelo State University, Abilene Christian University, McMurry University, Hardin-Simmons University, Collin College, Odessa College, and University of Texas at Tyler. She maintains a private studio of middle school and high school students, and has years of experience working directly with school districts throughout Texas Big Country, East Texas, and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.  Orchestral engagements this season include the San Angelo Symphony, and Texarkana Symphony.

Dr. Ott has been involved with several woodwind chamber groups throughout her career. Recent engagements include work with The Mesquite Trio os San Angelo, The Key City Woodwind Quintet and Key City Consortium of Abilene, Four Winds of Dallas Texas, the Chamber Institute Woodwind Quintet of UNT and Quintetto Chocolatto of Decorah, Iowa.

Dr. Ott holds Bachelors degrees in Music Performance and German from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.  She holds graduate degrees from Wichita State University and Indiana University, and completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts at University of North Texas.  Her principal teachers are Kathleen Reynolds, Bill Ludwig, Nicolasa Kuster, and Eric Ring.  Dr. Ott is currently based in Kingsville; she works throughout Texas.

As a soloist, Dr. Ott enjoys working with local composers to develop and perform new works for bassoon. Recent premieres include works by Amber Ferenz, Stephen Emmons, and Bernie Sherr.
